- 1900’s Big State began as a haberdashery – “a men’s outfitter”.
- 1948 Gus Crassons Jr. transformed Big State into a drug store. 1951 Clay Burney was hired as head pharmacist and store manager. He and his wife Jean later became part owners of Big State Drug.
- 1992 The Burney’s sold the business to Brian and Stacy Smith.
- 2014 The Smith’s closed Big State in May. Rick & Susan Fairless buy the business in June from the building owners, Dan & Elaine Niemeier.
- TODAY With a full exterior & interior remodel, Big State Fountain Grill was opened on September 8, 2014 by Rick & Susan Fairless who are lifelong Irving residents and also own the world famous motorcycle destination – Strokers Dallas, Strokers Ice House, Strokers INK, Fearless Insurance Services, RF Custom Parts and Punch Wally Garage
